{"id":1248,"date":"2026-01-21T16:04:58","date_gmt":"2026-01-21T16:04:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.933.me.uk\/wordpress\/?p=1248"},"modified":"2026-01-21T16:05:30","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T16:05:30","slug":"saffron-poached-pears","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.933.me.uk\/wordpress\/2026\/01\/21\/saffron-poached-pears\/","title":{"rendered":"Saffron Poached Pears"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4 medium pears<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10 cardamom pods<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>320g caster sugar<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00bd a vanilla pod<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>100mg saffron<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 small stick of cinnamon<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peel the pears, leaving the stalk intact. Crush the cardamom pods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan with 1 litre of water, bring to a simmer and gently poach the pears for about 2 hours or until tender. Remove from the heat, allow to cool, then refrigerate overnight to steep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before serving, remove the pears and set aside to bring to room temperature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boil the syrup until reduced to a sticky glaze, about 250ml.
